Our Strategy
MainSail Fund is a go-anywhere, opportunistic long/short equity strategy designed to generate alpha across a wide range of market environments—from calm, range-bound markets to volatile, macro-driven dislocations. We take a disciplined, research-driven approach to identifying fundamental mispricing's, pairing high-conviction longs with asymmetric short opportunities, while actively managing risk through tactical hedging and flexible position sizing.
Our objective is to deliver strong, risk-adjusted returns by remaining unconstrained by benchmarks, sectors, or geography. The strategy is built to adapt—whether through thematic trades, idiosyncratic stock selection, or macro overlays—always with capital preservation and downside protection in focus.
Meaning Behind the Name
The name MainSail reflects my personal background and mindset. I grew up on the water, spending years sailing and crossing oceans—experiencing everything from mirror-like calm to violent offshore storms. In sailing, the mainsail is the central force that drives the vessel forward, providing balance and momentum while keeping the ship under control.
That concept mirrors how I manage capital: steady, adaptable, and focused on forward progress—no matter the conditions. MainSail Fund is built to navigate uncertainty with discipline, positioning for opportunity while preserving capital through all market cycles.
Adam Till- Founder and Managing Member
Adam’s career in finance spans more than 20 years, beginning on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, where he started out as a market maker. After a few years on Wall Street, he spent time in the life settlement space, sourcing policies and building portfolios. While it was a great learning experience, it confirmed what he already knew: his real passion was in the markets.
That passion brought him to Dallas, TX, where he joined a single-family office and went on to run its long/short equity fund. There, he developed and refined the rules-based investment process that still guides his approach today.
What sets Adam apart is not just his deep knowledge of the markets, but the discipline he brings to risk management—a balance of curiosity and caution that defines his work at MainSail.
